Western Force beat Reds in Brisbane

The last time the Reds and the Western Force played each other in Super Rugby was in May 2013 and the match ended in an 11 all draw in Perth.

We are waiting for the kick off.

The Reds kick off and we are underway.

2.00: The Reds win the first penalty. It is just inside the Force’s half. Cooper takes the kick but it’s short.

3.00: The Force kick the ball out from the penalty and the Reds win the line out. Ben Tapuai slices through the Force but is stopped short of the line. The Force knock on.

4.00: The Force win a penalty from the scrum for boring in.

5.00:The Reds get through the Force’s defence again as Rod Davies gets the ball short of the line and is tackled by Luke Morahan who dislodges the ball as he goes over. No try.

7.00: The Force are being pinned back in their half. The Reds continue to probe the Force’s defence.

10.00: The Force get some rare time in the Reds half. They win a penalty so Ebersohn takes the kick and nails it.

13.00: The Force are getting a lot more ball now and they are playing the ball in the Reds half. They go through 15 phases and win a penalty for offside.

15.00: Ebersohn slots the penalty to extend the lead.

17.00: Another penalty to the Force. Ebersohn takes the shot and nails it. They are slowly but surely pulling away.

18.00: The Reds get some ball in the Force’s half but they concede a penalty. The Force kick for touch and the line out.

20.00: Yet another penalty to the Force in the Reds half. Ebersohn takes another shot and nails it.

23.00: The Ref sees some foul play so we go to the TMO to see what happened. This takes an age. A man in the stands shouts “Get on with man!” as this is really holding up the game. The result is that  Angus Cottrell is yellow carded and have a penalty. They kick for the line out.

24.00: The Reds win the line out and send it immediately to the backs. They go through the phases and get to about 1m out. The Reds drive over but they send the ball back to the backs and Ben Tapuai goes over and scores. TRY!

25.00:Cooper adds the penalty.

28.00: Matt Hodgson gets some help from the medics. The game resumes and the Reds knock on. Force scrum.

32.00: The Reds work the ball down to the Force’s 22 and they have a line out. Sam Wykes comes off for the Force. The Reds win the line out and move the to the backs, Davies almost scores but they recycle and go the other way and then they get the overlap and James Slipper scores. TRY!

34.00: Cooper takes the conversion and nails it. The Reds lead for the first time. Cottrell comes back on and in his absence the Reds scored 14 points.

37.00: The Force work the ball back into the Reds 22 and they stretch the Reds defence through 16 phases and Ben McCalman scores in the corner. TRY!

38.00: Ebersohn takes the conversion from the touchline but misses. The Force lead again.

40.00: As the siren sounds the Reds win a penalty. Quade Cooper takes the shot and levels the scores.

The half time score was Reds 17 W.Force 17  

The Force kick off and we are underway with the second half.

43.00: Penalty to the Reds for holding on. Cooper kicks for touch and the line out.

44.00: The Reds win the line and Cooper gets into a gap but loses the ball forward.

45.00: The Reds are trying harder to run the ball this half. They get the ball to Tapuai on the wing but the ball goes forward.

49.00: The Force go through the phases in the Reds 22. They get to the line but lose it. We go back for a penalty to the Force and Ebersohn will kick.

50.00: Ebersohn’s kick hits the post and the Reds take the ball and attack. They work it into the Force’s half but the Reds then concede a penalty. The Force kick for touch.

54.00: Penalty
