Mehrtens signs for Toulon

Former New Zealand fly half Andrew Mehrtens has joined the growing band of Kiwi who now play their rugby in France, signing up to play for Toulon next season.

The 34-year-old Mehrtens, who won 70 caps for his country, played with Harlequins in the English Premier Division this season, joining them after 2003 World Cup.

He was badly hit once again by injuries this year and has decided to take up a one-year contract with Toulon, who fielded another former All Black Tana Umaga for several weeks this season.
