Western Force beat Chiefs in Perth

Agreed. The Western Force pulled of the surprise of Round 5 last week when they beat the Highlanders 29-31 in Dunedin and have returned home to face the Chiefs.

0.01:The Force kick off but it goes out on the full so we have a scrum on the half way line.

2.00: The Force enjoy some early possession and attacking ball in the Chiefs half. They go through several phases then they win a penalty. No wait, Alby Mathewson used his boot so the penalty is reversed and the Chiefs have the penalty. They kick for touch.

4.00: There is a bit of a kicking duel the Force eventually kick it out.

5.00 : The Chiefs win the ball from the line out but knock on.

6.00: The Force win the scrum and kick upfield.  

9.00: Penalty to the Force. Ebersohn takes the kick but misses. The Force get the ball back as it does not go dead and they work the ball to the 5m line.

10.00; The Force have a strong go at the Chiefs line but the Chiefs keep them out.

11.00: The Force win a penalty so they go to the line out. They win the line out and then win a penalty. They go for the line out again.

12.00: The Force win the line out and drive over the line. TRY! Matt Hodgson.

13.00: Ebersohn takes the conversion but misses.. 80% possession so far to the Force.

16.00: The Chiefs start the fightback by working the ball into the Force’s half. The Force get caught with hands in the ruck and the Chiefs have a penalty.

17.00: Aaron Cruden takes the penalty kick and nails it. The Chiefs are on the board.

20.00: The Chiefs have several minor attacks but their handling lets them down.

23.0: There is a scrum near the half way line but the teams are battling to complete the scrums.

24.00: Scrum penalty for angling in to the Force. Ebersohn will kick for posts.

25.00: Ebersohn slots the penalty to extend the lead.

27.00: The Force have to clear the ball in the in goal area and it gets charged down and goes out. The Chiefs get a 5m scrum.

28.00: The Chiefs go though a couple of phases and send waves of attack at the line but the Force hold them out.

31.00: Penalty to the Chiefs. Cruden takes the kick and nails it. The possession stat has swung in the Chiefs favour now.

33.00: Penalty to the Chiefs on their 22m line after some pressure from the Force. They kick for touch.

35.00: Jamie Mackintosh is shown a yellow card for illegal play. The Force kick for touch with the penalty.

36.00: The Force win the line out but Ebersohn kicks across the field and it’s too big so it goes out.

39.00: Penalty in front to the Chiefs. Cruden takes the kick and slots it. The Chiefs lead.

The Force start the second half in the same way that they started the first. Plenty of pressure.

42.00: Penalty on the half way line to the Chiefs. Gareth Anscombe will kick for posts. He nails it. Great kick.

45.00: The Force rumble the ball up to the Chiefs tryline. They drive forward and Matt Hodgson goes over for a second TRY! The Force lead again.

46.00: Sias Ebersohn takes the conversion and slots it.

48.00: The Force break through the Chiefs defence and Nick Cummins goes for the corner but he puts a foot into touch. No try!

50.00: The Force are camped in the Chiefs 22. They have the ball on the 5m line and are sending wave after wave of attacks at the Chiefs tryline.

51.00: Hodgson comes close as the Force continue the attack. Over and over again.

52.00: Eventually after relentless attack from the Force the Chiefs turn the ball over and win a penalty. They kick for touch.
