Toulouse confirm Toby Flood signing

Toulouse have confirmed that former England and Leicester Tigers flyhalf will join their Top 14 Rugby club for the 2014-2015 season.

Flood’s signing has been no big secret and is part of the reason that he has fallen out of favour with England head coach Stuart Lancaster.

Twenty-eight-year-old Flood has played 60 matches for England but will no longer be available for England selection unless there are special circumstances.

Flood has spent 10 years in the Premiership starting with Newcastle Falcons and then Leicester Tigers from 2008. He is understood to have signed a three year deal.

Speaking at Toulouse Flood said, “Le Stade Toulousain symbolizes French rugby.”

“This club has such a great history which is respected around the world. I have found many similarities between the history that exists here in Toulouse and Leicester which is one of the reasons I joined this club.”

“I have had the opportunity to see the differences between what I’m used to in England and how everything is done in France, particularly in terms of training and preparation for matches. “

“As I said, whether in Leicester or Stade Toulousain, there is a strong tradition of rugby, with great coaches and big reputations. “

“I really enjoyed the years I spent in Leicester. But coming here is like a new life for me, probably with new things to learn.

“It’s like being a kid again and I will have a new lifestyle and learn to play the Toulouse way. “
