Scotland suffer double Six Nations injury blow

Johnnie Beattie and Sean Lamont will both miss Scotland’s final Six Nations fixture against Wales next weekend due to injury

The two players both sustained injuries during Scotland’s 19-17 loss at home to France on Saturday, ruling them out of the trip to Cardiff.

Montpellier back-row forward Beattie hurt his right ankle, while Glasgow wing Lamont damaged ligaments in his right knee.

“Both players were scanned at SPIRE Murrayfield hospital (in Edinburgh) last night (Saturday) and will be subject to further review tomorrow by consultant orthopaedic surgeon Graham Lawson,” said Scotland team doctor James Robson in a statement on the SRU website.

Robson also revealed that prop Ryan Grant will undergo tests after suffering an injury affecting his hip and abdomen.
