Armitage staying with Toulon in Top 14 Rugby

Former England flanker Steffon Armitage has signed a new contract with Toulon that will keep him in the French Top 14 Rugby club until 2017.

Welcoming the news, Armitage told Toulon’s official website: “I’ve been here three years now, and good things have happened.

“We’ve won the European Cup, we’ve reached two quarter-finals in two years. I hope that we continue and win the Top 14 this time.”

Armitage joined Toulon in 2011 with his brother, full back Delon.

He has chosen to stay at Toulon rather than return to an English club, a move that could have boosted his chances of being selected for England with the 2015 World Cup looming.
