Perpignan suffer double Top 14 Rugby injury blow

Top 14 Rugby club Perpignan have suffered a double injury blow as both hooker Guilhem Guirado and English wing Richard Haughton were ruled out for several weeks.

Guirado, capped 18 times but not selected in the France squad for the November tests, fractured the base of his right thumb early on in Sunday’s 31-14 European Cup victory over Scottish opponents Edinburgh.

The medical staff believe the 27-year-old will be out of action for six weeks which will see him miss the Top 14 matches with Oyonnax and European champions Toulon while he is also in danger of missing their next European Cup game against Munster on December 8.

Haughton, 32 and who has been with Perpignan for just over a year after playing for Jersey for a short spell, will be out for four to five weeks with a torn thigh muscle which he also suffered in the Edinburgh game.
