Hurricanes crush Brumbies in Super 14 warm up

The Hurricanes will be bouyed after crushing the Brumbies 40-7 in a Super 14 trial match in Masterton.AB lock Jason Eaton made a 30 metre dash down the touchline to open the scoring for the Hurricanes in the first few minutes.

Then a partially-charged chip kick from Ma’a Nonu fell into the hands of winger Lome Fa’atau, who ran in the try to make it 14-0 at the break.

After the break Hurricanes brought on a handful of Blacks, including Rodney So’oialo, Piri Weepu, Conrad Smith and Tana Umaga

Outside back Hosea Gear scored two tries and two more were added by Jimmy Gopperth and Conrad Smith.

The Brumbies looked like they were going to be whitewashed but fullback Tim Curran managed to get over with only a few minutes to spare.
