Brown signs new Harlequins contract extension

Aviva Premiership Rugby club Harlequins have re-signed England fullback Mike Brown until the end of the 2015/16 season.

The fullback is a Harlequins Academy graduate, who made his first team debut in 2005. He has since gone on to make 207 appearances for the south-west London club, scoring 67 tries.

He was a key player in Harlequins’ campaign to lift the Aviva Premiership Trophy in the 2011/12 season, picking up the Supporters’ Player of the Year, Anglo Welsh LV= Player’s Player of the Year and the Etihad Airways Player of the Season awards.

The twenty-seven year old has also made 18 international appearances for England. He made his debut against South Africa in 2007 as a fullback and played in that position in his two most recent performances against Argentina in June 2013.

Harlequins Director of Rugby, Conor O’Shea said: “If there is a person that embodies what it means to compete for his club it is Mike. He gives 100% in everything he does and over the past couple of seasons he has received the recognition he deserves.

“The great thing about Mike is that no matter what he achieves he just becomes hungrier and hungrier for more and that it is what you want from your players. I have no doubt that over the coming years we will see the best of Mike in both a Harlequins and England jersey.”
