Harris to play 100th match for Western Province

Western Province prop Brok Harris will play his 100th match for his franchise, after coach Allister Coetzee named him in the starting line-up ahead of WP’s Currie Cup clash against the Cheetahs on Saturday.

WP assistant coach Robbie Fleck paid tribute to the hard-working forward, saying that Harris had been vital to the Cape side since his debut in 2006.

“Brok has been a stalwart for Western Province and the Stormers and reaching the 100-game mark is just reward for a very popular team man,” Fleck said.

“The team would like nothing more than rewarding Brok with a victory, but we also want to right the wrongs from last week.

“We need to cut down our errors and improve our discipline, otherwise Free State will make life very uncomfortable for us on Saturday.”

Meanwhile, Coetzee made just one change from the team that opened their Currie Cup campaign with a thrilling 24-24 draw with the Blue Bulls last weekend.

Michael Rhodes starts in the lock position, with youngster Gerbrandt Grobler dropping down to the bench after making his Currie Cup debut last week.

Grobler will join fit-again hooker Tiaan Liebenberg among the replacements, while uncapped utility back Ryan Nell replaces Berton Klaasen on the bench.
