Kings star Adongo quits Super Rugby for the NFL

Southern Kings loose forward Daniel Adongo has called time on his Super Rugby career in South Africa and joined American NFL side the Indianapolis Colts.

The twenty-three-year-old Kenyan and former Counties-Manukau NPC forward has been signed by the Colts as an outside linebacker.

The move is the latest in an incredible career by the Kenyan Sportsmen as he has also featured for the Bulls and the Sharks in South Africa.

Adongo first emerged on the rugby scene in Kenyan age grade teams and was then signed by the Natal Sharks academy.

In 2011 he was part of the Bulls Super Rugby squad but was released early and moved to play in New Zealand for the Steelers in last years’s NPC before joining the Kings for the 2013 Super Rugby season.

The 1.98m and 115kg forward is know for his strength and has an almost perfect build for the NFL.

“We are excited as an organization with the acquisition of Daniel Adongo,” Colts general manager Ryan Grigson said on the team’s website.

“He is not only an elite athlete an rising international rugby player, but he is an exceptional competitor and human being that has the right makeup for our sport. “
