Bashford & Edwards take over Sharks coaching

The Sharks have confirmed that following the immediate departure of Sharks coach John Plumtree his former assistants will take over the coaching of the team.

The Sharks announced yesterday that Plumtree would leave the Sharks with immediate effect but did not reveal who would take over coaching of the team.

The Sharks have now said that, “With the exception of John Plumtree, The Sharks coaching structure will remain unchanged for the remainder of the Super Rugby Tournament.”

“Assistant coaches Grant Bashford and Hugh-Reece Edwards will assume the main coaching responsibilities for our remaining three games.”

The Sharks play the Blues this weekend followed by the Bulls and then they finish the regular season with a match against the Southern Kings.

It is expected that former Springbok Brendan Venter will take over the coaching of the Sharks in the Currie Cup but next season the Sharks should have a new Super Rugby coach.
