Former All Black Prop John Afoa will undergo surgery in Auckland to repair a torn tricep tendon in his left arm but should be able to play for Ulster at the start of next seasom.
The injury was sustained in the PRO12 Final against Leinster and will require a recovery period of 10-12 weeks.
Afoa, who made 26 appearances for the Province last season, is therefore expected to be available for the start of the 2013/14 campaign.
