Meyer and Matfield full of praise

The Bulls are riding on a wave of confidence after a flurry of powerful performances, and both coach and captain were ecstatic after Saturday’s final whistle blew on their victorious semi-final.

“We have been blessed. It’s been a tough season, but if you believe and know where your strengths come from and anything is possible,” glowed coach Heyneke Meyer.

“I am really proud to be a South African, not just a Bull and we are looking forward to Saturday to play in an all-South African final.

“It shows our country that we can be the world’s best.”

Meyer was full of praise for his side, and the victory was a special landmark for the coach, whose journey with the Bulls started long ago in far different circumstances.

“I have come a long way, I’ve been fired twice, this is our third semi-final and maybe its our year.

“I’m just proud of the guys.

“We adapted our game plan, we initially wanted to score tries, but the game changed, and we adapted successfully.”

Meanwhile skipper Victor Matfield was full of admiration for the ever exuberant Loftus crowd.

“The crowd been awesome – we have best crowd in the whole world. They give us strength and I think we are going to need to get a couple of boeings and all fly to durban next week.”
