Brumbies beat Highlanders in Dunedin

The Highlanders will host the Brumbies in their new Forsyth Barr Stadium for the first time in Super Rugby on Saturday.

The last time the Brumbies played a Super Rugby match in Dunedin was in February 2009 when the new Stadium had not been built yet but now that it has it is the only Super Rugby stadium with a roof.

We are waiting for the kick off.
 
The teams are on the field. The Highlanders kick off and we are underway.
 
1.00: The Highlanders apply some early pressure. The Highlanders test the Brumbies with territorial kicks but Jesse Mogg boots the ball out.
 
2.00: The Highlanders win the first line out but they lose the ball at the breakdown and the Brumbies attack.
 
3.00: After a couple of phases Henry Speight hands off Hosea Gear and darts for the line and scores. TRY!!
 
4.00: Christian Lealiifano takes the conversion and the Brumbies have a 7 point lead.
 
5.00: Brumbies centre Andrew Smith is off injured though so Tevita Kuridrani is on.
 
6.00: Penalty to the Brumbies. Lealiifano takes the kick and nails it. It’s a 10 point lead after 6 minutes.
 
7.00: The Highlanders show some promise on attack but John Hardy goes off his feet so the Brumbies get a penalty. They kick for touch.
 
10.00: Penalty to the Highlanders. Hayden Parker will kick for posts. He takes the shot from just inside the Brumbies half. He nails it. The Highlanders are on the board.
 
13.00: The Brumbies are back on attack. Speight slices through the defence again and is just stopped short of the line which allows the Highlanders to get back and then turn the ball over and kick it deep. Mogg gets back and kicks the ball out.
 
15.00: Penalty to the Highlanders. Parker takes the shot. He nails this one too.
 
20.00: Hayden Parker boots the ball deep into Brumbies territory. The Brumbies win the line out and attack. The Highlanders however turn the ball over and start their attack from just inside the half way line.
 
21.00: Another penalty for the Highlanders who are looking much stronger in the last five minutes. Parker slots the penalty and the Brumbies lead by one.
 
25.00: The Brumbies win a scrum in the Highlanders half. Speight has another run but is caught. The Brumbies recycle and continue to attack. The Highlanders defence holds out through several phases and then Mogg releases the ball to the Highlanders by mistake but they pass the ball forward!
 
27.00: The Brumbies win a 5m scrum and attack. However they go off their feet and concede a penalty. Parker kicks for touch.
 
30.00: The Brumbies are dominating territory. They win a line out and George Smith dashes through the forwards after a brief maul and scores. TRY!
 
31.00: Lealiifano takes the conversion kick and nails it.
 
34.00: Scrum penalty to the Highlanders. Parker kicks for touch.
 
36.00: The Highlanders win their line out. Nonu bashes his way through the Brumbies defence and is brought to ground. The Highlanders recycle and continue to attack on the 22m line. Hardy gets through and the Highlanders get to the 5m line. Gear goes for the line and reaches for the try. We have to go upstairs to check. Oh WOW! It’s no try! That looked like a try to us. Oh well. Brumbies 5m defensive scrum.
 
38.00: Brumbies win a penalty from the scrum. They kick to the half way line.
 
40.00: Penalty to the Highlanders. The siren sounds as Kade Poki limps off. Parker takes the kick and slots it. It’s
