Waratahs vs Cheetahs Super Rugby Preview

The Waratahs have won one match out of their last eleven and have lost their last two matches against the Cheetahs.

There can’t be a lot of confidence running through the Waratahs camp with their recent form and they won’t be happy with their performance against the Brumbies last week in which they lost 35-6.

The Cheetahs on the other hand have shown that they know how to beat the Waratahs over the last two years and last week beat the Highlanders for the first time in their history.

The Waratahs have played the Cheetahs 7 times since 2006 when they joined Super Rugby and the Tahs have won 4 times. That works out to a record of them winning 57% of their matches.

The average score when the Waratahs play the Cheetahs is Waratahs 24 Cheetahs 20.

This weekend the teams meet in Sydney where the Waratahs have hosted the Cheetahs 4 times. The Waratahs have won 3 of those four matches or 75% of the matches.

The average score when the Waratahs play the Cheetahs in Sydney is Waratahs 23 Cheetahs 16.

Looking at the stats between the teams the number 20 appears to be the magic number for the Cheetahs as every time the Cheetahs have scored 20 points (or more) against the Waratahs they have won the match.

The last time the Waratahs played the Cheetahs in Sydney the final score was Waratahs 3-23.

While the Cheetahs look like they are on a roll they are away from home and this is their third match away from home. Fatigue has to kick in somewhere along the way.

The Waratahs have made six changes to the team that lost to the Brumbies last week and the most stand out change is the return of Berrick Barnes.

The Cheetahs on the other hand have named an unchanged team which is fantastic for continuity but not so good for fatigue.

The Bookies have given the Cheetahs a 9 point start for this Match – with an offer of a FREE $150 BET. We think home advantage and fatigue will be key in this match. The Waratahs to edge this one by 3.

This Match will be shown on TV in NZ, Aus, SA and in the UK on Sky Sports 3 HD.

Average score: Waratahs 24 Cheetahs 20
