S.African scrumhalf threatens to boycott his club

South African scrumhalf Rory Kockott has threatened his Top14 Rugby club Castres that he will not return to play for them if they do not release him from his contract.

Kockott is currently in South Africa on holiday but has threatened his employers that he will not return to France unless they allow him to leave the club according to sources in him home country.

The former Natal Sharks scrumhalf wants to leave Castres so that he can join rival Top14 Rugby club Racing Metro who his former Sharks team mate Frans Steyn used to play for.

Kockott left South Africa to play in France for Castres after signing a contract with the club until 2014 but it now seems that his days of playing for the club are over.

Kockott’s refusal to return to France unless Castres release him leaves the Top 14 Club with little motivation to help him as if they release him he would not be playing for them and if they don’t release him he says he will stay in South Africa.

Kockott has enjoyed an excellent season so far and is one of the top points scorers in the Top14 currently.

The former Shark originally joined Castres as they have a strong contingent of South African players such as Jannie Bornman, Michael Coetzee, Antonie Claassen and Pedrie Wannenburg.
