Exeter Chiefs down the Scarlets in Heineken Cup

Exeter Chiefs kept the pressure on in Heineken Cup pool 5 when they beat the Scarlets 30-20 at Sandy Park on Saturday.

Exeter’s victory puts pressure on current champions Leinster who have now lost twice to Clermont Auvergne.

Exeter led 20-13 at half time but Scott Williams scored a try shortly after the break and Aled Thomas’ conversion drew the scores level.

Gareth Steenson put the Chiefs ahead with a penalty three minutes later to set up a tense finish for the hosts.

However with two minutes left James Scaysbrook scored a try that sealed the result for the hosts and Steenson converted.
