Stade Francais hammer London Welsh

London Welsh had a painful introduction to European Rugby when they were hammered 19-68 in the Amlin Challenge Cup at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.

Stade Francais’ Remy Bonfis scored a try in the third minute which set the
French side up early on but they followed on with Hugo Bonneval and two tries
from Waisea Nayacalevu which put the visitors in charge.

Gavin Henson’s boot and a try from Greg Bateman kept the Exiles in with a chance
until half time.

However in the second half tries from Francis Fainifo, Juan Cruz Guillemain,
Felipe Contepomi and then further tries by Bonfis and Bonneval put the French
team out of reach.

Argentina’s fly half Contepomi finished the match with a total of 25 points.
