Os returns for derby

The Cheetahs have welcomed back two of their bullocking prop forwards for Saturday’s near bottom-of-the-table derby against the Lions in Johannesburg.

Os du Randt returns from a rest while CJ van der Linde makes his comeback off the bench after a debilitating calf injury nearly two months ago.

Rassie Erasmus has opted to include a full front row on the bench, with Wian du Preez partnering CJ van der Linde on the wood.

Jannie du Plessis retains his number three jersey.

Juan Smith has also shifted to number eight, a position he has not played for a couple of seasons, and Kabamba Floors has garnered another rare start.

Ollie le Roux and Philip Burger have dropped out of the squad.

Both the Cheetahs and the Lions got off to successful starts in this year’s Super 14, but the length and intensity of the Super 14 has caught up to the franchises, with both sides being found wanting.

With Erasmus due to take up a post in Jake White’s Springbok coaching team, this is the Cheetahs’ coach last outing with the Bloemfontein outfit, and albeit there is nothing but pride at stake for the two sides, both teams are sure to be desperate to end their seasons with some respectability.
