Sharks hooker Pieter Dixon has been cleared to play after he was shown a red card in the Currie Cup match between The Sharks and the Blue Bulls, played in Durban last Friday.
Dixon was send off by referee Mark Lawrence following a review and recommendation of the Television Match Official Johan Meuwesen.
Dixon appeared before, adv Jannie Lubbe, Judicial Officer on Monday 1 October who found that on a balance of probability, the reasons for awarding a red card was wrong.
The player conceded that his boot came into contact with the head of the Blue Bulls player, but stated that it was accidental.
Lubbe could not exclude that possibility on the evidence and find that it is more probable that the contact was accidental than deliberate and therefor no further sanction was deemed necessary.
