Gomarsall commits to Quins

England scrum-half Andy Gomarsall has signed a new two-year contract that will keep him at NEC Harlequins until June 2009.

And England Sevens internationals Charlie Amesbury and Tom Williams have also committed their futures to the club, signing new deals until 2008 and 2009 respectively.

Having been released by Worcester Warriors, Gomarsall joined Quins in September 2006 and went on to make 20 appearances for them during the course of the current season.

He has won 23 caps for England and was part of the squad that won the Rugby World Cup in 2003, scoring two tries in the 111-13 victory over Uruguay.

“Quins is a great club with a fantastic set-up and very passionate supporters, so I’m absolutely delighted to have signed for another two years,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to being part of a bright future.”

Director of rugby Dean Richards said: “Andy’s skill and experience in such a key position within the team is exactly what you need in the Premiership, so to have secured his services for the next two years is great news for the club.

“His performances have played a big part in our achievements from this campaign and he’ll be a key figure as we look to build on this next season.

“To have retained the services of these [Amesbury and Williams] promising young English players is also great news and bodes well for the future of Quins.

“Once again it highlights our intention to a build a squad of predominately English qualified players and I believe these three all have big futures.”

Quins academy fly-half Seb Jewell has also put pen to paper on a senior club contract.
