Lions name Currie Cup team for Cheetahs

Current Currie Cup champions the Lions have named their team to face the Free State Cheetahs in their Currie Cup opener in Johannesburg on Saturday.


As expected JC Janse van Rensburg has been named as Lions captain allowing Joshua Strauss some rest in the role.


Lions team:


Andries Coetzee, JR Esterhuizen, Lionel Mapoe, Waylon Murray, Anthony Volmink, Butch James, Michael Bondesio, Derick Minnie, Joshua Strauss, Cobus Grobbelaar, Franco Van der Merwe, Hendrik Roodt, Jacobie Adriaanse, Callie Visagie, JC Janse van Rensburg (capt).


Replacements: Francois Du Toit, CJ Van der Linde, Willie Britz, Warren Whiteley, Ross Cronje, Guy Cronje, Ruan Combrinck.
