Scotland call up McInally & Dunbar for Aussie tour

Scotland have called up rookies Stuart McInally and Alex Dunbar for their our of Australia and the South Pacific following an injury to John Barclay and the absence of Max Evans.

Barclay suffered a hand injury in training on Wednesday but is expected to be fit for the Scots’ test against Australia on June 5.

Evans is joining the squad after completing his Top 14 obligations with Castres this weekend.

“We’ve called up Stuart as a precaution, given a hand injury that John Barclay sustained in training yesterday,” Scotland head coach Andy Robinson said on Thursday.

“John should be available for selection for the Test, but we felt it better to ensure we have sufficient back-row options.

“Alex will meet up with the squad tomorrow (Friday).”

“We’ve gone for him as we are still liaising with the IRB (International Rugby Board), French Federation and Castres to have Max Evans join us as soon as possible.”

Edinburgh back-rower McInally will join up with Scotland in Newcastle, New South Wales on Saturday.

Glasgow centre Dunbar, meanwhile, heads to Sydney from Tasmania, where he has been visting family.

Scotland also face Fiji and Samoa in their three-Test tour.
