Fisher re-joins London Irish from Bedford Blues

Jonathan Fisher has rejoined Aviva Premiership Rugby club London Irish on a two year deal after spending the last year playing for the Bedford Blues.

The 23 year-old, who is able to play at lock, flanker or number 8, made 19 appearances for the Exiles during his first spell with the Club, proving his versatility by playing in numerous positions.

He made his London Irish debut as a substitute against the Ospreys on November 4th 2007 in the Anglo Welsh Cup. The following season saw Jonathan make 10 appearances in the Premiership and European Challenge Cup competitions.

Prior to joining the London Irish Academy in 2005, the England Saxon played for Wellington College where his exceptional talent began to develop.

Jonathan represented England in the Under 19 World Championships 2007 and then went on to secure a starting spot at blindside flanker for the England Under 20 side in all five games of the 2008 Six Nations Grand Slam campaign.

The athletic forward also played for England 7s at the 2008 Hong Kong Sevens and for England Saxons.

London Irish director of rugby, Brian Smith said: “Jon is a player I have worked with before and he possesses a huge amount of potential which has been on show throughout the last season at Bedford Blues. He deserves the chance to be back and I know he will continue to work as hard as ever.”

Jonathan Fisher said: “I am thrilled to be joining London Irish again. The Club has played a huge role in my rugby development over the last seven years and I want to return and repay that faith. “

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my season at Bedford Blues and would like to thank the Club and its supporters for everything they have done for me over the last season. However the chance to move back to London Irish was too difficult to turn down and I am delighted to be returning.”
