Tu’ipulotu re-signs with Newcastle Falcons

Aviva Premiership Rugby club Newcastle Falcons have announced that Tane Tu’ipulotu has re-joined the club on a two-year deal.

The Tongan centre, 31, who moves from Japanese outfit Yamaha Jubilo, is the Falcons’ fourth signing in the space of a week after internationals Rory Lawson, Carlo del Fava and Scott MacLeod penned deals with the club.

Capped by the Junior All Blacks in 2007, Tu’ipulotu previously spent three seasons on Tyneside and will be best remembered for his last gasp touchdown at Harlequins in the LV= Cup semi-final, which secured his side a place in the 2011 showpiece at Franklin’s Gardens.

“I am truly grateful for the opportunity to join the Falcons again,” Tu’ipulotu told the Falcons official website.

“When I initially left the Falcons for Japan it was a very hard decision for me and my family to make. “

“During my time away Semore Kurdi has taken over the club, and it is great to see the progress that has been made under his leadership, especially with the appointment of Dean Richards as director of rugby.

“My family and I cannot wait to be back in Newcastle and I am looking forward to being part of a team that strives to perform to the expectations of its loyal supporters,” he added.

With more arrivals set to be announced in the coming days, it is a case of watch this space as the ambitious Falcons gear up for the new campaign under the stewardship of incoming boss Dean Richards.
