Ireland name squad for New Zealand tour

Ireland head coach Declan Kidney his 29-strong squad for the New Zealand tour which includes three uncapped players and four spaces left open for injuries.

Declan Fitzpatrick and Mike Sherry are included up front while Simon Zebo is named in the backs as is Darren Cave, who won two caps on the North American tour in 2009.

Kidney has left four places open for a prop, second row, back row and scrum half as he hopes a few players will regain fitness in time for the tour and these places will be added before the squad departs for New Zealand.

A second row slot is being held for Paul O’Connell while Chris Henry is in line for the back row slot. Isaac Boss is in line to fill the final scrumhalf slot.

Brett Wilkinson is in line to fill the front row slot in the absence of Tom Court.

Brian O’Driscoll returns to the Ireland squad for the first time since the Rugby World Cup and has been confirmed as Captain for the tour.
