Toulon knock Harlequins out of Challenge Cup

Toulon brought an end to Harlequins time in the Amlin Challenge Cup with a 37-8 victory at Stade Felix-Mayol in Toulon France.

The result means that Toulon will face Stade de France in the Amlin Challenge Cup Semi-final at home.

Toulon out-scored injury-hit Quins three tries to one with Steffon Armitage, Benjamin Lapyeyre and Sebastien Tillous all crossing with Danny Care replying with a late consolation for the English side

Jonny Wilkinson added five penalties and a conversion with Australian centre Matt Giteau also booting a penalty and a conversion for Toulon, the 2010 runners-up.

Quins had gone into the match in France looking under-powered with star Kiwi fly-half Nick Evans and captain Chris Robshaw both missing through injury.

France could have four teams in the semi-finals if Biarritz defeat Wasps on Saturday and Brive see off the Scarlets on Sunday.

Stade Francais had made sure of their place in the last four with a 22-17 win over Exeter on Thursday. Steffon Armitage won man of the match.
