Match detail

We are waiting for the kick off.

Dan Carter kicks off and we are underway.

1.00: There is immediate concern for Josh Strauss as he goes down after the kick off. He gets some attention and then the game resumes.

1.34: The Crusaders start powerfully and after a couple of phases Robbie Fruean almost scores down the wing. He is called back for an infringement but James Kamana is down and out. The game is paused as Kamana is in a bad way. Lionel Mapoe is already on but Kamana is still down on the field. We wait for Kamana to be sorted out. He is now being stretchered off. The game resumes.

3.00: Lions keeping the ball from the Crusaders well.

4.00: The Crusaders get some ball finally but they knock on.

6.00: We hear that Kamana was concussed and does not have a neck injury which is good news I suppose.

8.00: Crusaders concede a penalty at the scrum so the Lions kick for touch.

14.00: After a couple of phases the Lions run the ball and then they try the grubber but the Crusaders defence thwarts the attack.

18.00: The Lions win a kickable penalty so Butch James will take the kick. He nails it and the Lions are on the board.

21.00: The Crusaders win a penalty so Tom Taylor takes the kick. He nails it.

24.00: The Lions start making some ground into Crusaders territory. The pressure pays off as they win a penalty. James will take the kick. He nails it.

28.00: The Crusaders don’t seem to be playing with the same intensity as they usually do. It’s all quite relaxed it seems.

31.00: Crusaders taking the ball up to the Lions and then Zac Guildford pops through the defence and scores the first try of the match.

31.00: Tom Taylor takes the conversion and nails it but off the post.

34.00: The Lions win a line out and run at the Crusaders. They try the direct route by trying to run through and then after a couple of missed tackles Franco van der Merwe goes over for the try. It looks like he is held up. NO try. Andy Ellis held the ball up. Brilliant skills.

36.00: The Lions go again and again they go over the line. We have to go upstairs again. This try is awarded to Patric Cilliers.

37.00: Butch James takes the kick and nails it.

39.00: Dan Carter passes to Tom Taylor who is tackled by Tian Meyer. We are called back for a forward pass but there is an injury.
