McAlister to France?

Leading French Rugby weekly Midi Olympique has reported that Blues and All Blacks midfielder Luke McAlister has signed a two-year deal with French club Toulouse.

The 23-year-old star is apparently set to relocate to the south of France after the World Cup.

The move would be surprising in the light of McAlister’s All Black competition already moving abroad – Aaron Mauger to Leicester; Sam Tuitupou to Worcester.

It could be McAlister is backing himself to return to the All Blacks side after a two year absence.

Toulouse have lost the services of Frederic Michalak who is to join the Sharks next year, and they have reportedly been chasing the signature of Stephen Larkham too, who is set for international retirement.

Other All Black players set to join the example of Tuitupou and Mauger include Chris Jack and Carl Hayman.

Byron Kelleher has already confirmed a move to France.

McAlister will be back in action in the Blues’ last round clash against the Force after fracturing a cheekbone.
