Six try Bayonne smash Rovigo in Challenge Cup

Bayonne scored six tries on the way to recording a 43 v 10 Amlin Challenge Cup away victory over Rovigo in Northern Italy.

French International centre Thibault Lacroix opened the scoring the first of his two tries after six minutes. Bayonne skipper Benjamin Boyet added the conversion and then a penalty three minutes later.

Cedric Heymans then grabbed his side’s second score which Boyet also converted before German Bustos scored Rovigo’s only points of the half with a penalty of his own. HT 3 v 17

It was the hosts who started the brighter in the second period with lock Tommaso Reato touching down after 43 minutes.

From that point on though it was one-way traffic as the French side scored a further four tries. Jean Jospeh Marmouyet grabbed the first before Lacroix helped himself to his second score of the afternoon.

All Black legend Joe Rokocoko scored his first try in European rugby before Marmouyet’s second.
