Ndungane ruled out of Currie Cup for two weeks

Blue Bulls stalwart Akona Ndungane will miss the next two weeks of Currie Cup rugby after injuring ribs in last weekend’s win over Western Province at Loftus Versfeld.

Ndungane will miss the fixtures against the Lions in Johannesburg and the Pumas at Loftus Versfeld.

He should be fit for the Blue Bulls fixture against Griquas in Kimberley, along with Deon Stegmann (cheek bone) and Jaco Pretorius (groin) who is recovering well from operations.

According to team doctor Org Strauss, a couple of players are feeling the effects of the season, with Dewald Potgieter (ankle), Jano Vermaak (knock against the head), Juandre Kruger (knee), Louis Fouche (groin), Gerrit-Jan van Velze (contusion) and Bjorn Basson (flu) missing training on Monday and Tuesday.

“All of them should be running again on Wednesday,” Strauss said.
