All Blacks Muliaina and Smith set to face Japan

All Blacks coach Steve Hansen has hinted they could recall veteran backs Mils Muliaina and Conrad Smith for their Rugby World Cup clash against Japan on Friday.

Hansen said that the pair might get starts in order to give them a chance to bid for selection for what is expected to be the Pool A decider match with France next week.

Muliaina and Smith missed the match against Tonga and their their replacements Israel Dagg and Sonny Bill Williams took the chance to impress selectors.

Even though the All Blacks won the match the All Black selectors have been given widespread advice in New Zealand to keep selections to a minimum in order to develop rhythm for the playoffs.
