Fiji expand their Rugby World Cup squad to 50

Fiji have replaced Sireli Bobo, Jone Qovu and Joshua Matavesi in their preliminary Rugby World Cup squad and have enlarged the squad from 43 to 50.

The French based players were replaced in Fiji’s squad to prepare for this year’s Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

Bobo, Qovu and Matavesi, who all play for Racing Metro, were selected in a 43-man squad but omitted when it was enlarged to 50.

Bobo, who has played 10 tests for Fiji, and Qovu, who has been capped nine times, both announced their unavailability last week for personal reasons. Matavesi, who has played five times for Fiji, has opted to focus on club commitments.

Players added to the squad were Asaeli Boko, currently with the English club Sale, Iliesa Keresoni, Josefa Domolailai, Saracens utility Kameli Ratuvou and London Irish winger Michael Tagicakibau.
