Hernandez not in Argentina world cup squad

Argentina’s flyhalf Juan Martin Hernandez has been left out of his country’s 39-man provisional World Cup squad.

Hernandez is recovering from knee surgery and his French club Racing Metro wanted him to continue his recovery with them rather than join the Pumas squad.

The Pumas will meet for a two-week physical training camp in Florida next month

“Later on we’ll evaluate along with the medical staff how his recuperation is progressing to see if he is fit to be called up,” coach Santiago Phelan told Reuters.

The squad will be captained by Felipe Contepomi and contains six first choice forwards including the full front row of the team that reached the World Cup Semi-final under scrumhalf Agustin Pichot in 2007.
