Noves staying loyal to Top 14 Club Toulouse

Toulouse coach Guy Noves said he would stay loyal to the club despite being flattered by speculation that he might one day decamp to the French national side.

Noves is a veteran of nine French titles with the southerners to say nothing of four European Cups since taking the helm in 1993 and Saturday saw him steer the club to their latest silverware – the Top 14 title at the expense of Montpellier.

But the rumour mill was working overtime after he failed to appear before the media.

However, he emerged Sunday to insist “I am 100 percent Toulousain.”

The 57-year-old hails from the city and also played for the club, winning two league crowns – though he said it was nice to hear his name linked with France.

“To link my name with the French team is nice – that shows the quality of Toulouse’s rugby,” said Noves.
