Leeds Carnegie have lodged a complaint with Premiership Rugby regarding an illegal approach for a contracted player.
Leeds released statement saying that Chief Executive Gary Hetherington has registered a formal complaint against the conduct of both player agent, James Adams, and London Irish for their involvement with England international Hendre Fourie, who is under contract with Leeds Carnegie until 30th June 2012.
Hetherington commented, “We allege unprofessional conduct in that James Adams contacted London Irish and negotiated a lucrative contract for Fourie in the weeks leading up to the end of the League season in full knowledge that the player was under contract.
“Also that London Irish negotiated a lucrative contract with the players’ agent and, thereby, unsettling him and inducing him to break his contract with Leeds Carnegie,” added Hetherington.
