Winger Thompstone extends with London Irish

London Irish have secured the services of winger Adam Thompstone for a further season.

Since joining the Academy in July 2007, Adam has emerged as one of the most exciting talents in the English game, blessed with an explosive turn of pace and a ruthless eye to the try line.

He made his senior debut away to Worcester Warriors in an EDF Energy Cup match on 5th October 2008 and in 2009 received the ‘Academy Player of the Season Award’ at the club’s annual player awards ceremony.

Adam recently returned to action in January against the Ospreys in the Heineken Cup, after recovering from a severe long-term ankle injury which kept him out of the game for 16 months.

Stronger and fitter than ever he has now made six appearances for the Exiles on his comeback putting in outstanding performances.

Commenting on the decision to extend his contract Adam Thompstone said: “I am delighted to be staying with London Irish for another year.”

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and want to use the remainder of this year and next year to get back to my very best form, and help the side challenge for silverware.”

London Irish head coach Toby Booth said: “We are thrilled that Adam has signed for a further season. He is a strong, quick, agile player and one of the best finishers in England.”

“The Aviva Premiership is incredibly competitive so it is therefore imperative that you hold on to your best young players, so to have Adam re-sign is great news for the club. “

Adam, who attended Whitgift School in south-east London, has played 29 games for London Irish scoring 12 tries, including a hat-rick against Leeds. He has also represented England at Under 20 level.
