Flatman extends with Bath for three years

Bath Rugby have announced that prop David Flatman has signed to stay with the Club for a further three years.

The 31 year old loosehead prop, who arrived at the Rec in 2003, has made 131 appearances for the Club, becoming a cornerstone of the Bath pack in that time.

The destructive prop has also been capped eight times for England, the last of which came on the 2010 summer tour of Australasia.

Speaking of the news, David said “I am delighted to have signed for another three seasons at the club I call home. Bath is a hugely ambitious club, and I am excited that I am going to be part of a club that are looking to move things forward, both on and off the field.”

Director of Rugby, Sir Ian McGeechan, commented “Flats is a great player to have around the squad.”

“He has a lot of experience, which will be very useful in bringing on some of our younger players, and is technically very strong at scrum time, as we saw when he came on against Biarritz in France.”

Head Coach, Steve Meehan, added “Flats is a guy who loves playing for Bath and in many ways represents what the culture of the Club is.”

“He’s completely thorough in his approach, a great example of a professional sportsman to the squad, and yet at the same time he is a bit of a laugh and always brings a sense of perspective to the squad and staff.

“I enjoy having him around and I’m sure that those who work with him and his supporters share the same thoughts. He’s got a lot more to give and I look forward to seeing him deliver.”
