Wasps lose winger Varndell for up to 12 weeks

London Wasps winger Tom Varndell is expected to be out of rugby for up to 12 weeks as he needs surgery and then rehab.

Varndell was injured on Sunday when he was playing for Wasps against Gloucester and suffered an ankle ligament injury at Adams Park.

The former England wing will now have surgery and he will then have to go through a rehabilitation programme.

“We are really disappointed for Tom, especially as this season he has been injury-free and has been involved in every single game,” London Wasps Director of Rugby Tony Hanks said.

“His form has been very strong and we will certainly miss him but are confident he will make a full recovery.”
