Caminati kicks Brive kick to victory over Sale

Sale Sharks suffered their second Amlin Challenge Cup loss to Brive this season when they fell 13-15 to the French side on Monday at Gala RFC in Galashiels.

Brive full-back Julien Caminati kicked a last-minute penalty to secure the victory for Brive.

Sale Sharks started well after they took an early lead through Nick Macleod’s boot and he added two more points when he converted Mathew Tait’s try.

Sale were leading 13-12 at the break but Caminati nailed his fifth kick of the match in the 80th minute which preserved Brive’s unbeaten record in pool two.

Sale Sharks moved the match to Galashiels in Scotland due to the bad weather covering much of England after the match was initially postponed.

The pitch at Gala RFC was in excellent condition for the match and was fully grassed with under soil heating which had been on all night.

The match was played in front of just 100 hundred fans and earned Brive four points and Sale Sharks one point for finishing within seven points.

Earlier this month Sale traveled to Brive for the first of their two matches and Brive won 18-9.
