Newcastle Falcons sign Kiwi scrum-half Spice

Newcastle Falcons have signed former Cardiff Blues scrum-half Jason Spice in order to cover their shortcomings at number 9.

Spice has joined the Falcons on a pay-as-you-play basis as he did for Leicester Tigers in November.

The Kiwi bought out the final final year of his contract with Premiership relegated Bristol last summer.

Thirty-six-year old Spice started his career in New Zealand and played in Super Rugby competitions with Blues and Hurricanes.

Spice joined the Ospreys in 2004 but left them and went on to play for Cardiff Blues for two years.
