Hodgson blow for Sale Sharks and England

Sale Sharks have suffered a big blow with the news that fly half Charlie Hodgson has suffered a small fracture of the foot.

The injury is likely to keep Hodgson out of rugby until well into the New Year and puts his participation for the SixNations in doubt.

Hodgson was wearing protective casing on his foot last week, when it was hoped that his injuries were bruising and swelling, but X-rays have delivered a more serious verdict.

The England fly half came on as a replacement for England’s Toby Flood against South Africa and will now join Eifion Roberts, Neil Briggs, David Seymour, Tom Brady, Aston Croall and James Gaskell on the mid-to-longer term injury list at Carrington.
