Argentina lose Hernandez for Autumn Tests

2007 Rugby World Cup semi-finalists Argentina have suffered a blow ahead of their three November tests in Europe on Sunday as it was revealed their star player Juan Martin Hernandez would not be fit.

The 28-year-old 32-times capped fly-half – known as the ‘magic man’ – has not fully recovered from a right leg strain he suffered playing for his French club Racing-Metro against La Rochelle on September 11.

Hernandez has barely played in the past year, having failed to appear for the Super Rugby South African side Sharks because of a back injury and then suffered the leg injury just a fortnight after returning to action.

Argentina kick-off their test matches against Italy on November 13 in Verona, then play old rivals France a week later in Montpellier and round them off against Ireland on November 28 in Dublin.
