Italy want revenge on Argentina : Mallett

Italy’s South African coach Nick Mallett has vowed that his team will take revenge on Argentina when the two face each other in Verona on November the 13th.

Italy coach Nick Mallett vowed to when the two sides meet in a test match in Verona on November the 13th.

The Azzurri play the first of three November tests against the Pumas before also tackling Australia and Fiji in the their last internationals before next year’s Six Nations.

And top of South African Mallett’s thoughts is taking revenge for a 22-14 defeat in Turin two years ago.

“We want to put that defeat two years ago in Turin behind us and beat the Pumas in Verona,” said Mallett from a publicity event in the city.

“We can see there’s great expectation in the city for the game, playing in front of our home fans is always emotional.

“The scrum and defence are the two most important aspects in the identity of our team but we still have to improve our attacking play and our movement of the ball.

“That’s what we’ve been working on these past few days and we hope to see the fruits of progress starting with the game in Verona.”

Captain Sergio Parisse, who missed last season’s Six Nations tournament with a knee injury, said it was important to start the autumn programme in the right way.

“In November we expect three difficult games against teams ahead of us in the world rankings,” he said.

“But the game at the Bentegodi stadium (against Argentina) is fundamental because if we get off on the right foot that will give us confidence for the forthcoming games.”
