Rugby club in London offers Henson a life-line

A London based rugby club have offered Gavin Henson a chance to resume his game in England away from the media pressures in Wales.

All four of England’s London based Premiership teams have ruled out signing Henson but John Taylor, managing director of London Welsh says that Henson would be welcome to join them.

The 28 year-old centre would be able to re-start his career with the Championship club, who already have an agreement with the Ospreys with regard to sharing rugby and commercial expertise.

“Whatever happens, Gavin would have to play several games at a level below the English Premiership or the Magners League before he started in the top flight again,” Taylor told the Telegraph.

“If in the meantime he would like to come and train and play at London Welsh, we would love to have him.

“It is a no-brainer. He would enjoy it because there is still a very strong Welsh atmosphere at the club and hopefully it is a situation that can happen.”

“If he needs a Welsh home in London, we are it.”
