Leguizamon cops 80-day eye-gouging ban

Argentina and Stade Francais have been dealt a blow with the news that back-row forward Juan Manuel Leguizamon has been banned for 80 days for gouging.

Twenty-seven year old Leguizamon was found guilty of making contact with the region around the eyes of Toulouse counterpart Jean Bouilhou in the 70th minute of the August 28 game lost 34-16 by the Parisian club.

Leguizamon will only be eligible to resume playing on December 5 which means that he will miss Argentina’s Test matches in November against the French Barbarians, Italy, France and Ireland.

In another case Toulon’s forwards coach Aubin Hueber picked up a 10-day suspension for his “behaviour” towards the referee and assistants during the match which his team lost 36-31 to Racing-Metro on August the 27th.
