Argentina closer to joining 2012 ‘FourNations’

Argentina look even closer to joining the All Blacks, Australia and South Africa in the TriNations in 2012 after a meeting with the SANZAR partners.

Whilst the world of rugby expects Argentina in the FourNations from 2012 their inclusion is not yet set in stone.

Argentina have been invited but they need to comply with conditions set out by SANZAR who run and own Super Rugby and the TriNations.

Former Pumas captain Agustin Pichot is leading the charge for the South Americans and he said, “Now, yes, there is only a little further to go to be officially part of Sanzar when everything is signed,” .

Pichot who won a bronze medal at the 2007 World Cup in France, has fought for the Pumas to be included in the TriNations.

“It has beem a long, tiring process but I hope that now we have an accord.” he said on the UAR website.

” It has all been agreed and in SANZAR’s hands and they must send the agreed (points to us) in writing one last time,” Pichot added.

The former scrumhalf said that as the Tri Nations is already an economically successful competition, the challenge now was “to give it added value, not only on the pitch but also off it.”
