Lions change two for Province Currie Cup clash

Lions coach John Mitchell has made two changes for his team’s Currie Cup rugby match against Western Province at Coca-Cola Park on Friday night.

The Lions beat the Leopards last week but Mitchell has named lock Johan Snyman and flank Renaldo Bothma on the bench.

The two are replaced by George Earle, who was rested last weekend and Derek Minnie who was troubled with an injury niggle.

On the bench Marius Delport returns in place of Pieter Engelbrecht.

Whilst the Lions season has not gone as they originally planned they are only three log points behind the fifth-placed Griquas szide and four log points adrift of the Blue Bulls and Free State Cheetahs.

The Lions have won their last three matches which has kept them in touch with the top five teams on the Currie Cup log.

Western Province won their first six matches and looked near unbeatable but have now lost their last two matches.
