Hodgson out of Premiership season start

England international back liner Charlie Hodgson will miss the start of the new rugby season after undergoing shoulder surgery.

The Sale Sharks fly-half has already started his rehabilitation process and his club say that his operation was a “a complete success”.

Hodgson was part of Martin Johnson’s squad that toured Australia and New Zealand in June and enjoyed soild form.

He went under the knife after specialist’s advice after his shoulder had been troubling him for a while and wanted to fix the problem before the world cup next year.

Sale Sharks have a new coach for the Premiership season in Mike Brewer and start their Aviva Premiership campaign at home to Newcastle on September the 3rd.

Sale also face Premiership fixtures September against Saracens, who lost in the Premiership final last season, Harlequins and Bath.
